- 28 inch handle (before assembly) is made of grade A American hickory and selected for grain orientation and density, making it strong. Mounted to head in the traditional manner using a softwood wedge along with a round steel wedge for added security.
- The bit undergoes heat treatment and is quenched about 1 inch away from the cutting edge, followed by tempering to achieve optimal edge retention and durability. The final hardness measures between Rc 52 and 56. A high-quality leather sheath secures the tool and ensures user safety, complete with a buckle for closure, a belt loop, and an embossed emblem. Similar to the axe it accompanies, the sheath is manufactured in the USA.
- 2.25 lbs head will last a lifetime, we guarantee it. (overall tool weight is right at 3.5lbs)
- Axe head is coated with light oil to prevent rusting and to showcase the exceptional Council Tool craftsmanship. A Linseed oil coating is applied to protect the handle.
